Woman ‘lands’ in the clink

Bengaluru, March 11: A woman who allegedly forged documents to sell the same land to different people, was arrested by the woman and narcotics squad of the Central Crime Branch (CCB).

M. Sarojamma owned one acre of land in Allalasandra near Yelahanka, which was acquired by Karnataka Housing Board (KHB) in 2006. She filed a case in the high court questioning the acquisition.
On learning about this, the other four accused got Kasturi to impersonate as Sarojamma and forged her signature. The four accused prepared fake land documents and approached one T.B. Rudresh of Tumkur to buy the land. “After forging the documents, Kasturi told Rudresh that she would sell it for Rs 2 crore. But the deal fell through as Rudresh failed to arrange for the money,” an officer said.

The deal was sealed for Rs 2.85 crore and the victim paid Rs 50 lakh as token advance.
